"Telemann - a "light" word in most ears; to cap it, "Tafelmusik". What is this? A set of roccoco danses? NOT, friends, not at all. Telemann, the fertilest composer of all, made his best in his "Tafelmusik". The CD is lavish, thanks to the godlike Brüggen. An Ouverture in D, e.g., went on an eminent "career". In England, in the 20es of 1700, there was just a single subscriber of the Tafelmusik: the cunning Handel. In his best organ concerto, he made a one-to-one "transcription" from Telemann's work. In Belshazzar, also Telemann."
