2010 release from the hotly tipped Alternative outfit. Sacrifice was recorded at Bryn Derwen studios deep in the Welsh countryside with Faultline mainman and twice Mercury Prize nominated Bat For Lashes producer David Kosten. Drawing together the most exciting subterranean music of the past 30 years, the result sees sinister, crawling synths marry pulsing rhythms and screaming guitars. Sacrifice promises delight, thick in imagery, where landscapes and fire dominate the pastoral gloom. The bass is tar thick, the drums edgy and jittering, the guitars sharp and slicing. And caught in the centre, singer Samantha Lim's veneer of fragile innocence fractures and collapses to allow glimpses to the turmoil beneath. It's a crooked shadow racing for the dancefloor with its knives drawn.
