Landcrawler!
Nathan W. Walker | delray beach, fl United States | 12/15/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"like being trapped in an out-of-control jawa landcrawler thing with mighty treads wherein the droids have taken over and are driving the thing around tunisia buck-wild-like tearing up homesteads and sacking imperial outposts. comparisons could be made to a non-alpine formerly agrarian-basin popul vuh at their nosferatu-est locked in a rent-a-storage-shed with nothing but heat-damaged emperor vinyl and pink floyd's wish you were here for three or four weeks having to survive on antifreeze and iguana carcasses left behind by the former inhabitants. this may sound like a good idea because it is. tarantula hawk albums also have jm turner-inspired semi-non-representational depictions of desert atmospherics for delight and pleasure like some guys were hired to paint a really bitchin nature scene on a van with the band logo but ended up snorting airplane glue and had some technical difficulty with the airbrushing device. i am eagerly expecting tarantula hawk III which will still be called "tarantula hawk" and have like four cd's and gatefold pull-out posters and be all encrypted with symbols from languages which do not yet exist. rad!"
Nothing less than amazing....

"being an obsessive neurosis fan i found out about tarantula hawk on their website. i ordered the cd and, i was blown away. this record is as good as neurosis and isis. they take many post rock elements mixed with sludge and synth. this record didn't leave my cd player for weeks. given time they may be as godlike as neurosis."
