In 2010, Ludovico Einaudi was invited to direct the orchestra of the La Notte Della Taranta and thereby to reinvent traditional Salentine music. Looking at the long journey ahead, Einaudi invited a few fellow musicians to share in the adventure. Ballaké Sissoko, Justin Adams, Juldeh Camara, Mercan Dede, Redi Hasa and Mauro Durante had already partaken in some of his dreamy explorations and unusual soundscapes. For audiences, experiencing the remarkable collaboration of these great musicians was almost overwhelming. After taking La Notte Della Taranta on tour, the decision to cut an album documenting the emotions of this extraordinary journey was made. The results are exciting and Einaudi's influence is more distinctive than ever. Antonio Castrignano, Enza Pagliara, Alessia Tondo and the other Salentine musicians are resplendent as bright fires in the black land of the tarantula, fused by a theme of rare epic power and supported by luscious arrangements. This is a project that joins and combines many musical crafts and expressions, made powerfully emotional thanks to the visionary mind of Ludovico Einaudi.
