A NICE START
Kent Browning | SPRINGFIELD, OHIO United States | 09/30/2003
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Tanya Blount was in SISTER ACT II, where she performed a stellar version of "His eye is on the sparrow"(with the great Lauryn Hill)She has a strong voice and is enthusiastic. "Through the rain" is the big single on the album. It is a tender ballad and shows her to be a talented vocalist for her age at that time. The song features background vocals by Stacey Lattisaw! Tonya does a rousing remake of LTD's "Love Ballad". A song that is not easy for just anyone to remake. She does a splendid job. Another catchy single "Im gonna make u mine" did not fare as well, but is just as good nonethelessOther standout tracks are "Is it Love"?, a duet with Freddie Jackson and the song "No more Lies". A truly talented singer who should definitely find a home on a label that believes in great singers. She should be heard and you should give her a listen!"
The Lady's got Talent !!

"If you are looking for a really good CD to purchase, look no further BUY THIS ONE. Tanya Blount is a natural talent with a strong voice. The album may not have been a great success as far as how the industry looks at it but it ismost definitely a hit and I mean with a BANG!! My personal favorites from this album are Through the Rain and For All The Right Reasons. NOTE: To any producers or record company owners-- I hope you are reading this because this girl has got it going on. Perphaps with better publicity she could compete with all of the top sellers. She's most definitely got the sound and the image. Give Tanya a Chance. I don't know her but I am really pulling for this girl-- because I know talent when I see it. (Trust Me) I remember her from Natalie Cole's Talent show when she sang After the Love Has Lost It's Shine and her unforgettable duet with Lauryn Hill in Sister Act II."
Fabulous debut!

"Ten years ago this past summer, I bought Tanya Blount's only album that she made. I was just blown away by her voice! I heard Through the Rain and immediately got her album. I also liked Hold On and her remake of LTD's Love Ballad. The other songs are just as solid a mix of smooth ballads and uptempo dance tunes. She sounded mature for her voice on these songs. I thought that her next album was going to come on Sean Combs' Bad Boy Records, but it never happened. Maybe the deal failed or something. I just imagined Puffy producing most of the album and maybe Mario Winans, Stevie J, Ron Lawrence and others on there. Would have been a hot album. Never took place. Tanya, if you're out there, you made a solid album and I wished that it would have been promoted a lot more. Shame on Mercury Records for dropping you off their roster--they missed out on a quality, soulful album you made for them!!!!!!!"
