"I was immediatly taken in by this recording. It's on Ipecac so obvoiusly it's going to be unique sounding. In fact it sounds just like the name implies. Tango music in an old western saloon. This record is seriously a trip. I'm at a loss for words. There's only one track that features vocals - which are stunning. I can't recomend this record enough, its one hell of a listening adventure for not only active listening but also a great record for backround. Very inspiring on a personal level for music making too.. That's all."

"When I first caught Julian Curwin's Tango Saloon live, I was completely moved & blown away. The music was so unique, with so many genre elements that shouldn't really go together, but Curwin & co have managed to gel together so naturally.

As soon as the show finished I bought the CD (the original self-released version) and took it home & again was blown away.

The CD is a wonderful mix of Astor Piazzolla-esque Tango, Morricone-esque Spaghetti Western music, country, classical, Improvisation and more.

The are moments of sheer beauty, and then moments of wild chaotic improvisation - but it all works very well together.

The compositions are just beautiful, with works written by both Curwin and long-time regular collaborator, Sam Golding. The performances (from a number of Sydney's finest musicians) are superb & the production is just wonderful, and is the icing on this cake.

This CD is a must!

Be sure to check out the many other awesome project of Curwin's.

"The Tango Saloon are an Australian based group featuring a cast of musicians coming from such diverse

backgrounds as Monsieur Camembert, Mr. Bungle, Mike Nock, Jackie Orszaczky, Secret Chiefs 3 and Darth Vegas. The only way to describe this recent release on Ipecac Recordings(Mike Patton's US Label)is like an accident prone scientist stumbles apon a substance that speeds up motion and turns the world topsy turvy he tests it on an assortment of muscians with hilarious results.

As with most Ipecac releases a few listens is required but let these amazing muscians take you around the world with many stops and tempo shifts along the way"
