Biggest dissapointment of '05 so far.....

"I've had this album for a couple of months now, and I really wanted to hold my tongue because there aren't a lot of positive things to say about this release. O.G. Bobby Johnson suffers from too many wack guest appearances (not including the Camu Tao guest spot on "Lately"). Another big problem is these producers he dug up make some pretty weak beats. I normally like hearing different underdog producers but these guys haven't blown up for a very good reason, they're below average on the boards plain and simple. The only beats that are kinda dope are "P.P.P.", and the El Da sensei dis-a-thon "Toxic". I hate to say it, but even Tames word play sounds a bit stale here, he even recycles a couple of lines from When Rapper Attack. Personally I think he needs to put the sherm down, and go back to the drawing board because this is not worthy material from the guy who brought us Those Artifacts bangers back in the day, or the more recent Water World album."
Its not the TAME AS IT EVER WAS

"As a huge TAME1 fan it hurts me to say that this album was a huge dissapointment. The beats on alot of the joints are just plain wack. The mixing is awful on at least 4tracks to the extent you can barely make out what TAME or his amazingly weak guests are saying. In my opinion, with no disrespect to the "dusted dons" but they shouldnt be on the tracks and taking up space that TAME himself could've being exploiting better. Also there's a slightly disheartening moment when you realise that his relationship with his former co-hort EL DA SENSEI(from the artifacts days) is at an all time low when he verbally destroys him with a lyrical onslaught on the track "toxic". But as with all TAME's material you are treated to major verbal highlights on tracks like "blackout status", "p.p.p.", "get a jar", "moccafella", "high fidelity" and the explosive "itz goin'down". The main problem here is the production as TAME decided to move away from the more well known+much better producers like camu tao (only 1), j-zone (none) or mighty mi (just 2) to work with his own crew, but unfortunately they've let him down. Im afraid with "arizona iced tea", "lately", "get paid", "soldierz" and the useless "notda okeydoke" (a 5+half min track which only has a verse at the start which ends at about 1+half mins then you have a 4min instrumental)you find yourself let down. Sorry but its nowhere near as good as its previous solo album or leak bros project so to me it aint good enough for any real TAME1 or ARTIFACTS fan. Try to cop it on the cheap if you can for the 6 decent tracks. Gets 3stars cause its TAME1..."
It's Not Awful

"This album was generally considered to be a disappointment. I guess I would agree with that. After the thoroughly enjoyable, short but sweet "When Rappers Attack," this one felt much more hit-or-miss. But it's not completely without merit.

One thing I've noticed about this disc is that it feels more like Tame's. "When Rappers Attack" was definitely ill, but it was mostly full of Eastern Conference artists and affiliates. It seems like Tame had more of his people working on this one. I can appreciate that he's doing what he wants to do, even though it's not always as pleasing to the ear.

This CD has sort of an experimental feel, and some of it works. My favorites are the tracks with slower, more laid-back beats. "Notda Okeydoke," a druggie track with a depressed-sounding beat, got a lot of hate for its long instrumental section, but I enjoy it. It has a mood I kind of connect with. "Arizona Iced Tea" also has a slower tempo and not much intensity to it, but it can work if you appreciate the tone it sets. "Get a Jar," another track about drugs, has a kind of spaced-out feel that works pretty well. My favorite track is "PPP," also laid-back but in a kind of happy, catchy way. This track also stands out because it almost completely lacks bass and drums. "Soldierz" is also a success because of its simple but hardcore beat. Note that while I enjoy all these tracks, they're kind of different so there's a good chance other people won't.

Failures are "Blakout Status," which is just boring, "Hydromatic" with its annoying mechanical drum sounds, and "Lately," which has a beat that just doesn't work. "Moccafella" and "Get Paid" don't do much for me, either. "High Fidelity" is alright, taking it back to that Eastern Conference sound that's mostly missing on this album

I've pretty much just been grading the beats. As far as lyrics, Tame is good all the way through, not amazing but consistent, with his trademark voice and flow. I don't remember that any of the guests were impressive, though. So like I said, some of this album works, it's not a disaster, but mostly for more-than-casual Tame One fans."
