T-KASH is Fierce!
M. Code | New York City, NY | 03/31/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Where do I begin? WOW! Yet again, Paris put it down on the Production tip. T-KASH's CD is off the chain! He has a fierce flow. His messages are so evenly balanced on this CD. He is the spokesperson of the forgotten cat on the streets. Yet, by bringing his brilliance to music, he is able to talk to the bourgeois intellectuals who feel that cats on the street don't matter. He says they DO matter and you better pay attention. He tells their stories brilliantly.

T-KASH is indeed a force to be reckoned with in the game. His weaponry through the mic is a message of hope, get-it-togetherness, and staying informed and prepared for the battle that we as a people endure everyday. He is a perfect fit for the Guerrilla Funk family and this CD will stand the test of time.

Well done to T-KASH and continue to do what you do. You not only talk about the streets, you live it everyday and thank you for the stories we don't hear.

"T-Kash is that brother who would show up on certain songs of The Coup(sort of like how Dice Raw does on The Roots). The only difference is that T-Kash's album is great and Dice Raw's Reclaiming The Dead was a dud. American Nightmare was a great way to start off the album as T-Kash drops somes gems on that track. Made In America was also on Hard Truth Soldiers Vol 1(is it me or does the beat to that track sounds like Mobb Deep's Shook Ones?). The title track is explosive as T-Kash brings you hard truth with Paris on the hook. Dont let the title to track number 7 fool you. Its actually called How To Get Assassinated and its also a standout. On Superman, T-Kash drops some jewels for the kids and Liberty Mutual sounds like a love letter to Lady Liberty. The reggae-inspired Louder Than Words is a head nodding gem and on the track Shine, T-Kash addresses the snakes in the industry who promised him something. The only track I didnt feel was Last Real Hustlers. It sounds out of place on this album. On a great note, The American Nightmare extended version has Boots Riley(who sounds better and better with time)on it spitting heat along with T-Kash. Bottom Line: T-Kash's Turf War Syndrome is one of 2006's best releases and is easily another slept-on for the 2006. T-Kash has an impressive wordplay not to mention that he is also talking about things of substance and not the mindless street banter that you hear from these comic book characters in the rap game now.

Standout Tracks: AMERICAN NIGHTMARE(original and extended), MADE IN AMERICA, TURF WAR SYNDROME, SOMETHING TO ME, HOW TO GET ASSASSINATED, WRITE WHAT I SEE, SUPERMAN, LOUDER THAN WORDS and HUSTLEMATIC."

"Str8 up this is a three and a half. T Kash does not sound like no one else and his rhyme style switches up. He's from the Bay area and down with Paris and Guerrilla Funk records. He's not preachy instead he talks raw real street knowledge. Similar to the way Cube did it back in the day.

The production is simple but effective and he rides the tracks with ease. They did a good job selecting beats that fit him in my opinion. I wish the media would pay as much attention to this as they do some of the other types of Hip-Hop that we hear 24-7. This brother deserves a applaud for coming out with a good record like this that many people will not here. He has all type of subject matter discussed throughout the album, but only one subject sum's them all up "AFRICAN PEOPLE WAKE UP"!!! Hotep!!!"
