CD Reviews

In simple terms; their masterpiece

"Every track on this album is a winner. This is not surprising when guests on this album include Carl Craig, Tony Thorpe and Alex Paterson.Opener 'Interstate' starts off with a riff like electronic rhythm and evolves into an atmospheric dance track. 'Civilization' is the Carl Craig collaboration. When at first you hear Craig's cubase drum technique, you may be taken aback, but on further listens this will be one of your faves.Alex Paterson contributes with 'Davy Jones Locker', a beautiful ambient track and following that up is the stop and start rhythms of the Derrick May penned 'Big Sky City'. What more could you ask for? This is a virtual roll call of Detroit's finest!'Good Morning' and 'Night Owl' are superb building tracks full of delicate melodies. 'Power of Seven' and 'Hangar 84' are in trance territory and show the chart toppers how good trance music is really done. The final track 'Europa' finishes the album with aplomb. It's a perfect track, nothing innovative, but perfect at what it is, a 4/4 beat driven track with gorgeous melodies aimed at your mind not your feet.Get this while it's on the market, before you miss out. Electronic music can be energetic and also relaxing and beautiful, this album proves it."
Very surprised

"I am a Steve Hillage fan firstly, a Gong fan secondly(Must check out Clearlight Symphony and Khan in due course) and most definitely NOT a Dance etc fan(ie Techno/Trance). However, after getting this CD, I was overly surprised. It is a great intro to ppl like me. You can tell there is a lot of thought that goes on in Mr Hillages mind, and some of the dance beats are well catchy. I did like Rainbow Dome music for the Head space trip etc so I knew what to expect. I am foremostly a Blues Rock and Prog Rock fan, and will never be a Dance fan. I have since bought 777 (Well pleased with that too) and have just ordered Fire and Water. Would love to get as recent photo of Steve (All I know of him is his long hair and beard-Spit image of Jesus). You should also check out System 7 on Ozric Tentacles CD Floating Seeds Re-Mix"
