Inspiration with elegance!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"If Kousevitzky conferred the Boston Symphony the fierceness, voluptuousness, solidity and febrile expression, Munch added supreme elegance, majestic bright, and resplendent lyricism; so if you blend all these factor you may consider one of the top ensembles ever existed before or later.

There are countless performance that are part of the memory' s repertoire , that remains as posthumous legacy of a true national patrimony.

Charles Munch was a conductor of the widest musical culture; gifted with that supreme éclat and famed poise. Thence, his performance about Schubert's Ninth couldn't be more successful; it's a vision diametrically opposite the Teutonic approach of Furtwangler; it's a Mediterranean conception filled of rhythmic vitality and superb articulation. The musicians of this prestigious orchestra seemed to be conveyed into a sort of Dionysian rush and even achieving a major status in all the meaning of the word.

So you should include among the great musical feats this invaluable gem, that reveals by itself the effervescent sumptuousness and out of his world phrasing, best known as the most aristocratic of the American Orchestras by then.
