"This is another of those little surprises that Naxos seems to pull out a bottomless bag of tricks. I bought it for the Berwald concerto, which proves to be a graceful and melodic exercise, neither awkward nor poorly played in my opinion. I was unfamiliar with Aulin, but the elegant solo writing presented here encourages me to look further into his compositons. The Stenhammar provides a brief and pleasant interlude between the two primary offerings. None of this is heavy music, but it charms the mind and pleases the ear.



What impresses me most about the recording is actually the sound. The Naxos engineers have done an exemplary job of balancing soloist and orchestral forces. The violin sings with rhapsodic intimacy never overpowering the accompaniment, and the acoustic is both warm and brilliantly clear. This is a gorgeous recording. Buy it for the sound."
