CD Reviews

AWESOME! A MUST FOR SURF MUSIC COLLECTORS AND SURFARIS FANS
Surf Forever | USA | 01/25/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"At Last! Both lps on one cd with superior sound and the never before on cd Comin Home Baby, which gets the fantastic reverb take Surfaris style! plus Ron Wilsons great beach boy/ hondells/jan and dean like vocals! Highlights include surf/hot rod instrumentals Dune Buggy, Hot Rod Graveyard, Scattershield, Burnin Rubber, Big Surge too many to list as they all rock out!!! , very cool vocals Go Go Go For Louies Place, most likely a surfers bar/shack/pad to hangout at, the moody ballad Im Leavin Town and Wax , Board and Woodie! A nice cd booklet to read, the original artwork of the lps, checkout the sweet surfing rods! Its a british label cd and grab it up before it becomes outta print! Ron and all the remaining Surfaris music will never be forgotten!"
The best Surfaris instrumentals & vocal surf/hot rod
MarvsC61 | Yorba Linda, Ca. USA | 01/18/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I would have to say that I agree with Surf forever, this is a really cool CD combo. Re-mastered beautifully with fresh vibrant sound, minus all of the snap, crackle and pop of old records. This 2 CD combo gives you probably the best representation of what the Surfaris could do with their signature sound instrumentals, and what they were attempting to do with surf/hot rod vocals. Surf vocals were what was hot & selling when these records were made. Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, Gary Usher & the Hondells, the Ripchords(Bruce Johnston/Terry Melcher)were taking Surf/HotRod music in this direction, and the Surfaris were doing some great vocals too. Gary Usher was in fact working with the Surfaris, and unfortunately they under pressure, did less and less of their brilliant instrumentals and kind of lost their way musically. But in these two albums everything was still fresh and exciting with a good combo of both styles. If you love the Surfaris and/or Surf/HotRod music, you will enjoy these great CD's!"
