Amazon.com As usual, the Supersuckers come out with both barrels blazing and all bottles empty on this six-song EP, which spotlights disaster-prone relationships, disparities between man and woman, and long days on the road--all with the hard-charging, gut-busting approach the Seattle-based band has relied on for 15 years. The full-throttle title track is the first of four new songs, and it revs up on the raunchy riffs of Dan "Thunder" Bolton before giving way to an apologetic ballad that lead singer Eddie Spaghetti wraps his vocal cords around like a country radio player. The band needs just 97 ear-splitting seconds to proclaim its many affections in "I Like It All, Man," which segues contentedly into the catchy "Here I Am," a Spaghetti confessional that crosses off all the rock-star trappings. And what is a Supersuckers record without tongues planted firmly in cheek? Perhaps you're thinking about visiting one of the local fast-food restaurants and plunking it down on some gastro-intestinal delights, which although might be quite tasty, will only be a memory after the last bite is taken. Or, maybe you're thinking about putting that money into the bank, where after 1 year at 3.5% interest, that $7.98 will have grown to...$7.98. That's right, you didn't gain anything except 1 year of your life lost, and if the cost of living has gone up in that year, you actually ended up losing money, which always sucks. But, if I told you that your $7.98 + shipping and handling with orders under $25,(hey, I have to be truthful here) can buy you something that will give you pleasure hour after hour and day after day, wouldn't that be awesome? Sounds too good to be true? Well, it be true and it's the latest release from the Supersuckers, the "Paid" EP. That's right, for the very reasonable price of $7.98 + shipping and handling as mentioned prior, you get 6 great songs! Songs packed with killer guitar, rich, earthy vocals, some damn fine drumming, a touch of harmonica and various interesting instruments. Songs that can melt wax, peel paint, get you movin' and groovin', and if that wasn't enough already, there's even a truly touching love song, called "Breaking Honey's Heart", although the title song "Paid" could arguably be considered a love song,as well. Now, I wouldn't expect someone to take my word on how great the "Paid" EP is, because hey, I'm just a stranger writing a review. So why not check out the song samples, available here for your listening pleasure. If you do, I think you'll buy it, and get "Paid" with great music each and every time you listen." Any new material is welcome here. Let's go track by track: 1 "Paid" : Best song that that AC/DC never wrote.Total workin' Man's Blues.Total Rock-N-Roll professionalism.Anybody who works a job they hate will relate (which is pretty much everyone). 2."Breaking Honey's Heart" :The Country/Western side of the Supersuckers has never been hidden. This song sums up a lot of sentiment that a lot of dudes out there have, dealing with their woman and what not. The melody sends a chill up my spine and gives me goosebumps. 3."I Like it All Man" : UMM, total balls-out fun rock-n rolla. One of the most fun songs they have done. Take a listen, it's a no brainer. 4."Here I Am": Great rocker, mid-tempo with great lyrics.Kind of an ode to friendships.Sick solos. 5."Roadworn & Weary" : Probably my fave song from "Must've Been High": Always wondered how it would sound Rocked-up.You will enjoy. 6."Creepy Jackalope Eye": Always ready for a reworking of a 'Suckers classic.Jazzy and smooth.Great song to make a move on that special lady, she will be unable to resist you, hence the EVIL powers of Rock-N-Roll. Nothing but straight-up great music from guys who play because they love to, "Paid" is a testament to a band that really has it together. The sound just gels as if they play by a collective instinct. The remakes are excellent examples of their versatility, and I think they show a desire to grow and evolve, which is what a great band does. And the name "Paid" is very fitting: these guy have paid their dues and have truly earned the title of the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World."
