CD Reviews

Latin? American? Who cares? It's great!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This band is an original crossover surprise - you don't know whether to salsa the night away or jump into the nearest moshpit. Either way, the music feels great. And you get the feeling that these guys are intelligent and joyous as well as creative. The first words of the first tracks are in English - kind of welcoming to this Anglo listener, but both songs then take off into exotic Latin alternative riffs. The third track "Que Vo Hacer" opens with a monster hook and turns out to be this amazing mixture of complex Latin, hard rock and electronica that stays with you. Even though I have no idea what it's about. And the CD stays at a high level through to the end, in English and Spanish, touching on so many different musical vibes from country to hip hop but always holding together. The song "Social Political Music" even includes a little Leonard Bernstein. Many of the songs have really interesting "preambles," which could be one of this band's defining signatures. Can't wait to see what Superlitio look like when performing."
Way Better than Colombian Coffee!!!
