CD Reviews

Not to be confused with Rush's Freewill or the other band

(4 out of 5 stars)

"The information as I could find it and in my humble opinion 8/29/05.
Freewill changed its name to Stone Telling. The LPs have the same
songs with the exception of Freewill also having one additional untitled song.

They have been considered similar to Dag Nasty or the less hardcore side of the Descendents.
They are very, very, good, BUT suffer from various recordings of the same songs with different
production and sound quality differences. The best original
recordings were (FW's) Nothing Lasts and For Times recorded on a compilation tape back in 1988
put out by Erosion Records. They then recorded an album for Wishing Well Records. I am not sure
if it was ever released on vinyl or cd. They seemed to have sold the writes to Freewill's first album
to Lost & Found Records of Germany. L&F
released Freewill's Almost Again cd in 1995. Somehow Freewill lost control of the rights so they
changed their name to Stone Telling and released the same songs re-recorded (or re-produced)
on Network Sound Records in 1994 (Dates as printed
on their cds).

So you have a choice of Freewill's Almost Again cd or Stone Tellings
self-title cd. If you had to choose one, buy Freewill's, if you can find both, buy both.
Freewill is found on and Stone Telling can be found on,
where you can also find song samples. If you buy both, make yourself a cd copy
like this FW1. untitled song 3 (on FW's cd only)-- FW 2. Disappear Here-- FW3.
Every Breath-- FW4. Easy -- FW5. Shine-- FW6. Reach-- ST7. Almost Again
ST8.For Times-- ST9.Always--- ST10. Nothing Lasts (lost its edge from tape version)

You'll have one really, really good cd! They have production variations and
lead guitar I could live without, but Seriously, some GREAT music. Song structure, vocals,
and lyrics are among the best.
