CD ReviewsThe stinky puffs are gross in a good way! sappypunker | 05/20/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "Yep this really is a rocking...little EP!,lo fi as anything but in the best sense young Simon Fair Timony sings and screams the songs with a real passion and joy.
Of course the songs are pretty short but they're packed full of charm,"Buddies aren't butts"zips by like a kiddie Nirvana,"I love you anyway"dedicated to Simons friend Kurt cobain,is heart breaking raw and honest, while "Menedez killed their parents" is just plain scary think of a mini Mark E.Smith barking out the words with a driving riff in the background, how cool is that!. The second side of the EP is the same songs but this time recorded infront of a live audience, with the stinky puffs band, worth it just to hear Krist Novoselic on bass, and Dave Grohl on drums, they joined the stinky puffs for a while and it sounds like they probably had alot of fun playing on these songs.I've enjoyed the whole album but i'd have to say the songs"Menendez killed their parents"the joyous "pizza break" and "I'll love you anyway"really stood out. The whole album shows what kids can do if allowed to be creative, and going by his songwriting skills at such a young age i'm sure Simon Fair Timony will be a future talent to look out for,how could anyone who once proclamined "I am gross" not be!." |
