Every day is a Marvelous Day with SteveSongs' blend of musicality and imagination. Smart and sassy, catchy and fun, these jazzy rock songs reach out to the heart of kids and their families. Steve blends participatory songs, clever stories and great melodies into an experience that leads young listeners on what the Boston Globe calls "not just a musical journey but an entertaining, interactive and educational one." The Los Angeles Times applauds Steve's "warmth, gentle humor and well-crafted, quirky wordplay." His songs are tested and approved by the toughest audience on the planet - kids. Winner of the prestigious Parents' Choice Gold Award, Marvelous Day is SteveSongs fifth CD.

SteveSongs has just joined the cast of the PBS KIDS morning block show as the new music teacher "Mr. Steve."

CD Reviews

Absolutely danceable, mostly high energy music !
Melanie Wilson | USA | 10/07/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Once in a while I review a product that's such a gift that I wonder if it's my birthday. SteveSong's Marvelous Day is one of those gifts. What an absolute treat it is to listen to this album over and over again, as requested by my 4-year-old! Song's vocals are James Taylor meets Mister Rogers (but in a good, young way) and his lyrics are delightful and very fun.

The album starts with the best energy possible with the album's namesake: Marvelous Day. Right away, kids are jumping up to dance and adults are getting that feel-good energy that comes from someone declaring how great life is.

Every child needs to hear the song Fast Monkey, hosted by Silly Vanilli. It's wonderful, wonderful writing and joke-telling that has children laughing out loud and copying the antics of the song. You have never heard She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain the way SteveSongs does it. It's incredibly lively and very comical - a tongue-twister to keep up with.

Many of the songs feature children singing, and they're actually singing refreshingly well and acting out lines without a hitch. Children won't be bored with this music, since it often takes off into random humorous directions, like in We're On Our Way, in which Uncle Steve keeps forgetting beach gear and ends up being left behind by the children.

Hero Song is a lovely, tear-inducing, post-9/11 profile of a boy wanting to be like his fire fighter hero, with a very reflective conclusion. Water Cycle makes me want to learn more about clouds - I keep forgetting the album is for my children.

The vegetarian perspective: The album has an obligatory eat-healthy-food song called The Veggie Song (Go, Go, Go), which is very pro-vegetables and rates high with this veggie family. The song Ducks Hatching is about a school that has duck eggs in the classroom and the amazement of the children watching them hatch. If you have an ethical vegan perspective on your child's educational exposure, this song might not be for you. Also possibly in line with vegan values, a song about a lion refers to the animal repeatedly as "it," which may irk some of you who believe lions have genders. But back to the gushingly positive review...

The album is absolutely danceable, mostly high energy music that doesn't overpower the lyrics. The order of the songs is well done - we're taken on a path from move-your-body to educational and interesting, even pausing for a crack up joke. As energetically as the album begins, it ends on a positively sleepy-time mode, perfect for the end of dance time and beginning of naptime.

THIS ALBUM MADE US FANS of STEVESONGS

"We loved this CD so much that we're already planning on going to his big concert in CT in January! This CD is great for inside the house or in the car and the BEST thing is that my husband and I LOVE it just as much as our sons (ages 2 1/2 and 1) do! The CD offers a variety uses of intruments and voices (Steve is very talented with his range of different voices and he also invited children and other adults to sing, too)! Most of the songs are fast and upbeat and a couple are relaxing. Buy this CD and you'll want to see him live in concert, too!"
