Fused Bop

"I really enjoyed this CD's subtle blend of complex harmonic movement, BeBop licks, classic and modern jazz textures. The compositions and arrangements are divese and full of surprises. The focal points of the CD are the range of guitar textures and the exceptional Tenor Sax contrubution. As Producer and Engineer the CD really showcases Steve's unique aural vision and expertise."

"I love Steve Thomas's Jazz. I have a few of his CDs - and this is definitely the best. Great rhythm, great guitar, great sax. . .Its very visual in the mind. As the liner notes say, it evokes images of "large sweeping vistas, canyons, hills, valleys and . . .swirling mosaics of color".

I keep on going back to this CD. No surprise its an award winner!"
Great blend of rythem, lyricism, texture & chops

"I've enjoyed ST's work for a while and this new CD keeps adding more dimensions to his collection. The Jaz-Mobi Project grabbed me in several ways. Each tune carries its own vibe/feel from the swing of Kylies' Blues to the melodious Way Farther to the Latin rhythms in Breeze on a Bay and the highly effective doubling of guitar and sax on a Dancing Feet. Thomas and his super tight group (with super chops) pull this off by building tensions then giving an unexpected release. At the same time they keep mixing in surprising turns of phrase. This is all capped off with rich texturing (rhythmic and harmonic). While it would be easy to get caught up in a heady intellectualizing of each tune's elements, it's when I let all that go that Jaz-Mobi Project really grooves."
