Synopsis

Product Description
Steve J Walker is a talented musician, singer, and songwriter from Tulare, California. Steve has been playing music, beginning with the saxophone, since he was nine years old in 1987. He has been a part of various worship bands since the age of fourteen, beginning as a saxophone player on the church praise team in 1994 and teaching himself to sing, play keyboards, and play rhythm and lead guitar over the next several years. After learning to play the piano in 1999, Steve wrote his first song, a Christian hard rock song called ""Sin Deleted."" Learning the new craft was slow going at first, but in 2003 he was commissioned as a music leader for a recovery-oriented program at Visalia First Assembly of God that required him to write songs to fit the subject matter. This responsibility forced him to really buckle down and practice writing. Since then he has written in the vicinity of 350 songs (and growing)! In 2008, he completed a worship album titled ""So Sweet"" comprised of some of his own original, contemporary worship songs. The wide variety of music styles heard on these tunes is a reflection of the vast diversity of artists that have inspired Steve over the years. He cites Petra, Chris Botti, Dream Theater, Mark Knopfler, Mozart, and John Mayer as just some of the many influences that he draws from. Steve has performed with several renowned Valley artists and ensembles such as the Latin Jazz group Prayed in Full, Christian hard rockers 23Hundred, Christian smooth jazz/R&B vocalist Monica Stahl, jazz and flamenco guitarist Ernie Pinon, Nashville country recording artist Heather Layne, and the talented cover band Vaguely Familiar. He has also played saxophone with popular worship leaders Terry and Randy Butler, Cindy Rethmeier, and Eddie Espinosa. 13 years ago, Steve played the sax while touring through parts of Europe with Springtime, an evangelical group that is an off-shoot of the Celebrant Singers. Steve's passion for music is second only to his passionate love for God and people. Steve was very recently signed to a record contract with Tate Music Group. He and the company are preparing to launch a nationwide promotion for his music. He prays that this will provide a means by which he can minister to and bless a larger group of listeners than he has been able to reach on his own.
