"OK, they were great, and I agree with every review, but this Japanese CD is not a worldwide debut. There was a release in Germany in the early 90s on Line Records, and recently I bought this CD for 15 Marks, which is about 7.50 Dollars (ahem). I'm afraid it's out of print now and you can only find it in second-hand-shops. And whether Line reissued the other two LPs, I really don't know."

The 60s COME TO LIFE AGAIN......

"The price tag on this Japanese reissue makes this a wish list item rather than a hard purchase for the moment - but it is great to see all 3 Spanky & Our Gang albums available on CD for the first time. I feel for the group's sound after hearing them on the UK TV show DEE TIME in June 1968 and bought the LIKE TO GET TO KNOW YOU album and this one not long after and played both albums to death. Elaine McFarlane (now with the touring Mamas & Papas and getting to belt out SUNDAY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME every night)has a sensational voice and the band were a severely underrated talent in their day having only a handful of USA hits (3 of them included here)and not a thing in the UK - now is a time to rediscover them. Album highlights include SUNDAY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME, BYRD AVENUE, LAZY DAY, DISTANCE. I've never quite taken to the Music Man showsong TROUBLE, but on the whole this is very listenable."

These should be reissued soon in the USA

"I would expect Collectors Choice Music, Sundazed, Rhino or some other reissue outfit to come out with the entire Spanky catalog in the next year. It would make sense now that the entire Association, 5th Dimension, Turtles and other catalogs from sunny '60's pop groups are out."
