WHEN DA WEST WAS AT ITS PRIME ..[AND THE REST OF THE GAME]
PAL | UK | 12/29/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The scc are'nt that well known to the mainstream , but have been around since 1992 . 1992 when the west coast hip hop scene was largely expanding due to the likes of 2pac , eazy e , dr dre , snoop dogg ect ... the scc were also big contenders at the time [espeically with gangsta convo] . Hip hop was becomming largely popular , the scc which consited of seven members - 3 mc's prodeje , havoc , havikk rhimeson .

N gats we truss stormed to the scen in mid to late 94 , when things between west n east started to heat up . Dont get confused their is a havoc and prodigy on the east coast aswell known as mobb deep popular new york duo. N gats we truss is one heck of a original gangster rap lp . From start to finish the album just blows out bangin anthems .

It starts off with "bring it on" -which just brings every thing to life - and comes with a agreat heavy hook . Followed by "dribe bye homicide" - then to "servin em heat" another great original track . But the to the song that really got me into the scc "gang stories " which is a very heavy song -if you've seen 8 mile -you might be familiar with the the song as it is banged in free worlds car throughout the movie .

The rest of the album delivers some graet tracks , doesant slipp with the apearances of the late great 2pac , mc eight ,and spice1 the album is just amazing if you are a rap fan . Definetly shows how strong hip hop was ! DEFINETLY A GEM

A MUST HAVE !"
2nd complete group album is pretty good

"After 3 years since thir 1st complete group album (not counting Havoc & Prode'je's albums) they come back with a prettty good album (and their 1st of 2 on Def Jam). Probably tied for my 2nd favorite of their 5 complete group albums (I don't have the one from 1992). The 6 man crew (3 rappers, 1 R&B singer, and 2DJ's) they kick what they do on most albums, gangsta tales and some dirty songs. Production is good and mostly handled by Prode'je (like with all their albums) he does all 16 songs, with help from Havikk on 4, DJ Gripp on 3, and DJ Kaos on 1. It has no classics, 1 almost classic, 2 ok songs, none I skip, and the other 13 are good. Guests are on 2 of the 16 songs so you get alot of the SCC. A good album to have for their fans or fans of west coast rap.

"I love this CD. It got played sooo much in the first years I got it. Its straight gangsta. The production is heavy with sicc rhymes. It's got the classic 'servin'em heat' on too. Haaard album. I would recommend to anyone who likes westcoast. This was better than a lot of other westcoast in 94. Don't let this slide. Peace!"
