Synopsis

Product Description
Sing One For The Cowboy solidifies the Hannah family's considerable influence on today's Western music. Jack Hannah, 1999 & 2000 Western Heritage Award winner for Outstanding Original Composition from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center, has penned nine new songs including the just announced 2000 Heritage Award winner, Charlie and the Boys, showcasing the traditional, rich three-part harmony that is the Son's hallmark.

Confident Masters of Saddle Song
Bernie Waugh | Hanover, NH | 11/12/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Sons of the San Joaquin have become the current masters of that celestial style of Western close harmony perfected by the original Sons of the Pioneers. As a fanatic for the nature-poem songs of Pioneers founder Bob Nolan, I love the rendition of his "Still Water Pool" found here. Yet the core of this album is Jack Hannah's own songs, of which a standout is "Charlie and the Boys" - a tale of a youngster's first cattle drive with legendary Charlie Goodnight, set to a tune that's stuck-in-your-head catchy (to my wife's annoyance). On earlier SOSJ recordings, the voices were a mite unnaturally forced, and some prior Hannah compositions beat the word "cowboy" to death. Here, though, both voices and writing have found their confident groove, leaving that Prairie-of-our-imagination so much the richer."
A cowgirl at heart

"I must be one, because when I listen to the lyrics and feel the great music and harmony it's like I've come home. These guys brighten my bluest of moods and hang out a rainbow on the darkest of days. You can't go wrong."
Great Cowboy Music

"I don't know, maybe I was a cowboy in a past life. I just love Cowboy music and Sons of the San Joaquin are among the best. The mellow tones and poignant stories make me relaxed and happy. I keep a few of their CDs in the car and listen to them every time I enter the San Joaquin Valley of California."
