The best two channel has to offer!
(5 out of 5 stars)
"This CD is the pinnacle (or within a hair's width of the pinnacle) of the best that two channel reproduction can offer in terms of capturing sounds from the real world. To wit: Tracks 6,7, and 8 are the recorded sounds of the Space Shuttle Discovery lifting off from Cape Canaveral. For track 7 the launch sounds were recorded with the microphones only 4,000 feet from the launch pad! The extremes of frequencies and sound pressure levels (SPL) encountered are mind boggling....1/8 Hz and an average SPL of 144 dB to be exact!!! Of course there are no speakers out there that reproduce these kinds of extremes in frequency and SPL. But a good stereo system (including a state-of-the -art subwoofer) will introduce you to the world's largest vibrator. For some reason the all of the tracks for this CD are not shown. The AMAZON.com description shows 10 tracks but it's actually 16. This is the best of realistic, loud, and low sound out there....at least until some form of multi-channel sound becomes the standard."
