CD Reviews

Best grumbling vocal and metal playing.

"THIS IS THE ONE ! Of all the Sodom, this one has the BEST vocal effects,

most powerful lyrics, and heaviest bass plus speed guitar extreme. NO OTHER SODOM RECORDING IS QUITE AS GOOD AS THIS ONE ! Don't be fooled by the simple dark cover, the performance IS INSPIRED !"
The most perfect incarnation of Sodom--including the current

"Andy Brings is less repetitive a writer than Blackfire, equal to Bernmann in his own way, but more minimal and death-ish. I love Persecution Mania, but Blackfire tends to recycle ideas slightly, to my ear. As for heaviness, the clips I have heard of Masquerade in Blood sound a bit sluggish and monotonous--and I love the heaviest of Death Metal (early Suffocation, etc.), so it's not the heaviness I object to. No--this is the ultimate in insane, ungodly heavy thrash.

Then there is the one and only --and now immortal--Witchhunter.

Jeff Hannman said Dave Lombardo is the perfect Slayer drummer because he is unpredictable, punky, always threatening a train wreck.

Has there ever been a drummer more worthy of that description than Chris Witchhunter?

Consider:The first song has Witchhunter's lyrics, the first picture in the booklet is Witchhunter, the most acknowledgments are written by Witchhunter, every song is an insane, furious Witchunter pounding-fest. Every drum fill is practically a wipeout.

Make no mistake, Chris Witchhunter was the star of Sodom at this point--and no guitarist has fitted him so perfectly than Andy Brings.

All I can say about this incredible album is that it proves that thrash beats, if done properly, can even trump blastbeats.

If you like thrash or thrashy death, get this album. It one of the most perfect examples of its kind anywhere."
Heavy as heck with some of the best speed guitar

"This is one of my 10 "desert island" CDs- and I'm into all genres of music going back all the way to plainchant. I agree with the previous reviewer in that this Sodom CD sticks out from their catalogue. It's different, even though the same trio put out other albums and EPs. I love all styles of the mighty Sodom, but this one and AGENT ORANGE top my list. Not for closed minds or poseurs- SO BE WARNED!!!!"
