Old-timey to bluegrass, the missing link

"This is simply a joyous and wonderful CD. Snuffy Jenkins is widely credited with influencing Earl Scruggs' banjo style which makes him the grandfather of bluegrass banjo. And what a fun grand daddy he is! The material on this release is wonderfully varied, from blues to old-time novelty songs ("Television" is priceless) to fiddle tunes to early bluegrass. The ensemble which features the great Pappy Sherrill is awesome. Some of my favorite material is sung by Julian Medlin in a loving and gentle tribute to minstrelsy. The old time brother duet style is beautifully represented in their version of "The Sweetest Gift". I highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys early country music and bluegrass."

"Listening to this CD is like finding the missing link between the minstrel music and modern bluegrass. Snuffy places the banjo into the context of a lighthearted and entertaining skit for several of the songs. It takes the listener on a time warp back to the late 40's and early 50's era when country music had an all together different vibe. If you're interested in the roots of bluegrass/country music or are just tired of the over-processed, over-mixed, squeeky clean perfect digital recordings of today, you'll probably get a kick out of this CD."
