"Like Japan's Mute Beat, Skavoovie -- ten guys from Boston in their late teens at the time of recording -- is primarily an intrumental ska group, on the other end of the spectrum from both reggae-tinged ska and skacore/skapunk, but they do have lyrics, and they attract a wide diversity of fans from Florida to Massachusetts (I've seen 'em in both places). Covers of the Batman theme and other marks of wry humor ("Have you seen the One eyed giant?" What the heck is a "nut monkey?") abound. A great Big-band-esque sound on this, their first album, with rounds of fat brass and sax solos, keeps you coming back for more."

"This album is a wonderful debut from another gem at Moon SKa Records in NYC. The CD starts off good and sort of ends on a sour note. Old Man Of The Mountain is by far the best track on the album. I highly recommend seeing them live, and remind them to sing the coffee song!"

"Skavoovie and the Epitones are an amazing bunch out of Boston. Their scope is wide and you can see the progression of their music if you take a step back and experience all their Albums. This is where it all started, and it started with a huge bang. The songs are very jazzy and robust - because of the nature of the band, the songs tend to lean more towards the instrumental side. This group is simply amazing and once you're done with this disc, you'll crave more. I'd recommend RIPE for your next pick."

"A fast paced will get you on your feet an' tapping disc. Probably the best Skavoovie disc."
