CD Reviews

Excellent Live Material, So-So New songs..

"First off, let me tell you I love Six Feet Under. I have everything they have ever released and think they are much more talented then most people think. I dislike it when people say they 'rip-off Obituary' I don't see it that way at all. Now, as far as this CD goes, it's a mixed bag. The live material is excellent, great choice of songs, great recording, all perfect. However, of the three new songs, only one is up to snuff, Drowning. The other two, a new 6fu original Insect and a Judas Priest cover of Grinder, are both quite weak. However, it's definitly worth the price, but don't start off with this CD if you are just getting into them. Get Haunted. =)"
Six Feet Under - 'Alive And Dead' (Metal Blade) EP
Mike Reed | USA | 08/19/2005
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Saw the death metal merchants play live here recently.Until a month or so ago,I had sort of forgotten about this band, which of course features former Cannibal Corpse vocalist Chris Barnes.I still run across patrons at metal shows that didn't know that.Only downside about this seven track EP is that it's WAY too short.I mean,25 minutes.Come on!Nonetheless,'Alive...' is still a semi-worthy title.Tunes I liked the most were their head-riveting cover of Judas Priest's "Grinder" and a couple of the live cuts,"Suffering In Ecstasy" and "Beneath A Black Sky".Should appeal to fans of Cannibal Corpse, early Celtic Frost,Nuclear Death,Cradle Of Filth and possibly King Diamond.
