CD Reviews

Feel Good Album of the Year
Gavin Scope | Sydney, New South Wales Australia | 06/10/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I picked this one up second hand after hearing them on a 555 label compilation. I listened with some trepidation as a couple of tracks sounded quite cheesy and irritating but this album has grown on me and has been my most played in the last 2 months. It has such a raw and uplifting energy, gentle in places, the female vocals are particularly sweet and the male vocals evoke a warm unpretenscious compliment. This is a fine blend of lo-fi and electronics with a slight punk base. There are touches of hood ( if they maybe decided to take antidepressants) and mum and a good splash of architecture in helsinki but more down to earth. The cheesy but fun tracks in question (namely a 70s disco number and an early 80s influenced daggy little number)are very catchy and contribute to the overall sense of joy that the Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers are wanting to share with their listeners. Better Days has set me up for a few nice days starting off with this and a cup of coffee ,it has been hard to be down. Thers also a cd rom video which i havent seen on it and it is packaged in a beautiful apparently hand printed cover."
