CD Reviews

Energetic ska

"Siren Six has a great feel of familiar bands from the past. Their instrumentals feel like Slow Gherkin, and their vocals are a combo of Deals Gone Bad and Liberator. The first two songs are the strongest of the CD but that doesnt make it bad. Every song on this CD is appealing."
Tense, dramatic, heady stuff with slight ska undertones

"I found this cd in the Ska section of my local record store and picked it up because the sticker that said "Ska/Mod/Emo" sounded interesting. I knew even before I'd finished listening to the cd that to try and put a label on this band is to do them a great disservice. The music on this cd is complex, rich, and absolutely intense. The songs all seem to churn with a blood-boiling passion and vitality without resorting to the overbearing heaviness of RAtM and the like. Listening to this cd the first time gave me the same feelings as when I first heard Helium, Sleater, Morphine, or OpIvy. Since then, it has earned a spot in permanent rotation in the changer. This is what rock 'n roll is supposed to feel like: if listening to this cd doesn't move you and leave you completely energized, get help."
Siren six! is far beyond ska!!!

"Hi, I've been listening to S6 for quite some time, and I have to say that they are so beyond ska that they are cluttered with labels...for instance the sticker on their Debut reads : Two-tone, Mod, emo!!! Two-tone is in reference to the ska part. Mod is about their appearance (and the fact that a lot of Mods like their music), and Emo is short for Emotion. I'd rather take the abreviation Emo and replace it with Pass short for passionate. (the term Emotional is not always positive, right?) But Passion is what this album if full of. If you get the chance, go see them. They won't be touring for a while but if you live in the Souther California reigon (L.A. area) you can see them easily. These guys are a Great band, far beyond Goldfinger or Reel Big Fish (although those two bands are accomplished in their own right) when it all comes down to it Siren Six! is ROCK AND ROLL!"
