CD Reviews

Sinkadus is Swedish for "Foxtrot"
Terrell Miller | 12/09/2000
(3 out of 5 stars)

"These guys have often been called an Anglagard clone, but that's wrong. They were around *before* Anglagard, and both bands are actually early Genesis clones.Sinkadus does the best job by far of any other band mining this vein. If you love early Genesis (as I do), then the familiar sounds and song structures will bring a nostalgic smile. It's like uncovering a set of previously unreleased tracks from your favorite band. All the Peter Gabriel-era quirks are here: the weepy flute and Mellotron sustained chords, that half-mellow, half-jagged guitar tone Hackett used to get in the old days, the bubbling Hammond organ work, the sudden transitions between soft and loud passages, the very long songs. But if you're looking for an original sound, go elsewhere. These guys are very, very good at what they do, but that just happens to be highly derivative."
