A big disappointment!!

"If this was the first time hearing the band I probably would have given this a higher rating. However, I have been listening to the band since their first release, 'Cross the Styx' and saw them live during their incredible 'Diabolical Summoning' tour. If you're a long term fan, like myself, then you know Sinister's signature is there blistering grind/blast beats. That is something that has made the band a brutal force to be reckoned with. Well I am sorry to report that their is not a blast beat on the cd. The songs get to only a fast thrashy type pace, but the days of their blistering blast beats are long gone. This was a huge letdown for me. The female singer sounds o.k., not as good as when she was on the last release 'Creative Killings'. People will think she has a brutal voice for a female and I certainly want to give her props, because she is pretty good. However the deep parts are mostly done through her mic-cupping the entire time and their are some heavy effects on her voice. Lots of reverb and EQ to thicken and deepen her voice. The band is still talented and have a nice heavy guitar sound. The bass on the cd really comes through and some nice tones come through. But when it is all said and done the band has taken a much slower, less aggressive approach. Some may embrace this new approach, but being a longtime fan of them, this new style is a huge letdown. They are capable of so much more. Their back catalog crushes this w/out question!!!!!"

"I would not use the words like oh man this sinks!! No i think sinister has put out one brutal death metal cd rachels vocal's are as deep if not deeper on this cd and the guitars alone are fast as hell!! And ADD'S drums just pound away !!! Also the sound they went with is like more grind core like which i think makes it more heavyer!!!!!! So for fans of Abbandon incarnate and Vital remains w/ glenn with love this cd so go a head and buy it!!!!!!!"
