CD Reviews

What a follow up!!
R. Longman | Stamford, CT United States | 12/11/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Although only 4 tracks, Tease is a remarkable follow up to Sicboy's first effort. You can really hear the evolution of the band. First off, everything is tighter, not to mention, well mixed. The addition of Settembrini as rhythm guitarist has increased the sledgehammer effect of the heavy sections of the songs exponentially. And it gives guitarist Ant Valenzisi the freedom he needs to create those weird, 'radiohead like' guitar sounds. The first track Born Again, has an almost industrial feel to it, but there are no drum programs or sequencers here. The song has a very eerie feel to it at the start (due mostly to Valenzisi's effects), but soon the track completes a metamorphosis into an all out hardcore frenzy. The vocals have also improved incredibly since the first disc. Vocalist John Tate is able to show off his incredible range and almost split personality singing style. These are 4 very solid and well produced tracks, and it leaves you wanting much more. Most certainly a Tease, but more importantly a progression."
A Terrific Little EP

"Why these guys aren't big is beyond me? This is one of the best indie discs I've picked up in some time, and although short (only 4 songs), it thoroughly rocks from start to finish. I can't wait to hear more from these guys, and Tease certainly lives up to its name. It really leaves you wanting more. So here's hoping!!"
Man oh man!! Does this rock!!

"When those first chords of Born Again drop and threaten to blow a hole through your speakers you begin to realize that these boys mean business... big time! Sicboy is a relatively unknown band, but don't let that scare you off. They really do kick some serious tail, and you'll be happy to discover the quality of this recording, despite it's indie status. And I discovered that they recorded this in their rehearsal space and it sounds like it was produced at a top flight studio. Go figure! Kudos to the producer on this one. An excellent Ep that makes you realize that there still are some really talented bands out there that are original, edgy, and can bring the rock... THANK GOD!"
