"The Gift by Shelley Gaines is a wonderful compilation of Jazz, R&B, Pop,Big Band soft tones and ballads. Iv'e always wanted to go to the record store and pick up a CD that catered to my various musical tastes, and The Gift has surely satisfied my hunger for versatility in Gospel music. I would like to start off by complimenting on the clean crisp production. It definately sounds like Shelley Gaines and Tonex were very much insync with one another's ideas. I would also like to comment on the smoothe tight background vocals of Shelley Gaines as well as her soft but convincing lead vocals. I am totally vibing on the samples from The Isley Brothers and Mtume. It takes a lot of courage to incorperate secular music into a gospel song especially knowing the criticism that comes along with it {AND THERE WILL BE CRITICISM}. My opinion on sampling is if you are trying to reach an unreachable croud, theres not a better way to do it than to use a sample from a popular secular artist. This CD is saturated with amazing talent and ingenious production. I personally dig the whole entire CD and would recommend it to every one as a gift. It was definately a long time coming in gospel."

A Great Alternative

"This is an excellent CD. I listen to this every day. It is a great alternative for persons who are turning away from listening to secular music. Shelley Gaines gives you the groove and lyrics that lifts up praises to the Lord.EVERY CUT on the CD is great!! You will worship in R&B style, plus you will praise in R&B style as well. Get this CD. You will be glad that you did.I also recommend this for the Christian teen who is striving to live a life for Christ. This will help them turn away from worldly music."

An unusual piece

"I am very pleased with the content of this cd and in my opinion it is an unusual piece. One of the main reasons why I say this is because there is a little bit of everything for the listener. I am most impressed by the mellow tunes because the messages are so inspirational. I have one complaint and that is; I feel there was room for at least two more songs on the cd. But that's nothing compared to the quality that is displayed. I would highly recommend this album to all music lovers who are searching for substance as well as a good solid message of hope."
