No soggy pop orchestras, no trendy bongos, no tricks. McCarthy has assembled a wonderful group of songs, ancient and not so ancient. She sings to a simple piano accompaniment. She can actually sing the notes right in the center. She has clearly thought about the words. This album is as clear and pure and unaffected as we imagine the Christmas Eve sky over Bethlehem.Superb."
