CD Reviews

BEST OF 09
Hip Hop 2 Def | Virginia, USA | 11/11/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album is excellent lyricwise. Sha Stimuli has a delivery that almost sounds like he's talking directly to you. His emotions come through on the tracks easily, which is very rare these days. If he says a funny bar he says it comically. His flow IS flawless. The beats are good, nothing great. The age of the MC is coming back, so the beats complimnet his lyrics and subject matter instead of banging beats like Marco Polo & Torae's Double Barrel.

You probably saw the trailer for his album and had the same emotion as me. WOW. The trailer's hype was actually surpassed by this modern-day classic. When I previewed Move Back ft. Freeway, I admit, I was not completely convinced that Sha was all that gr8. The fact that I don't like Freeway didn't help either. Since I don't listen to mixtapes this is my first taste of Sha Stimuli (no homo) and it literally floored me.

LEMME BREAK IT DOWN

-Most compare this album to Skyzoo's, but this album is just BETTER. His lyrics are more exciting and the flow is impeccable and doesn't get old like Skyzoo's

-He is obviosly hungry on this album and rhymes in any style you can think of in each song(conscious, braggadacio, battle, comical)

-If you listened to and enjoyed Joell Ortiz's Bodega Chronicles, then you'll LOVE this.

-No MC can convey emotion the way Sha Stimuli can. The beats, and his flow come together and each song and creates an atmosphere that separates each song from the rest.

THE FINAL VERDICT...

No question the best of 2009 IMO. BUY IT. Lyrics/flow/subject matter are incredible. Beats were good, but Sha stole the show. He's already a legend for droppin this one..... If he drops a few more on this level, we might be looking at one of the greatest MCs who ever lived. Top ten ever for sure.............NO JOKE! SHA STIMULI IS SOMETHING SERIOUS!"
"This Album to Keep"...FOREVER

"I'm glad to see at least one other person in this world shares the same enthusiasm as I do about this album. Sha Stimuli is in my top 5 favorite emcees of today. I don't know where to begin to express my love for this album. I admit, when I listened to the snippets here on Amazon, I was skeptical. Sometimes, you can get an emcee like Canibus for example, who is known to spit fire, then when his first album dropped...it might've been "deeper" than what people were ready for. I thought Sha was going to be too serious on this album based off of the snippets I heard. Boy was I wrong! This guy gave a human being EVERYTHING they needed to get through life. Depth, comedy, braggadocio, everything!

"The Smelly Cat Song" has to be some of the funniest ish I've heard in hip-hop in a VERY LONG TIME. I was driving and listening to that song and almost had to pull the car over from laughter lol! Stimuli is so ill, I was rewinding the CD just to hear his lyrics again. He is very understandable. Says his words loud and clear. Very clever, but if you pay attention, you can understand his lyrics on the first listen.

The fact that certain mainstream acts are succesful, and I'm only the 2nd person on Amazon.com to comment on this album, is purely a shame. This type of album could change hip-hop as we know it for the better. How do certain artist's albums seem to be everywhere, and I couldn't find Sha's album in stores? If it wasn't for the internet, I wouldn't have this album now. And I would've been missing out tremendously.

"My Soul to Keep" is just that. Dude spoke straight from the soul...and you can feel it..."
