Synopsis

Album Description
Edition of 500 copies in a book bound case and 8 page booklet. Audio CD plus region free DVD consisting of the entire Black Om Rising album performed live. Black Om Rising is a tightly-wound precision time piece ringing the hours with an effervescent brutality. The rhythm section growls with a low, mean thudding punch that could give the back end of The Birthday Party or Big Black the business in a street fight. Black Om Rising ascends; a beautifully bejeweled bloody stump of instrumental brilliance. Powerful, mellodious, charismatic, dynamic, weird and ballsy to the core. STS has compassed an album whose every drone, silence and screech is so slyly crafted that Mozart called from the 18th century demanding amps!

CD Reviews

Seven That Spells - 'Black Om Rising' (Beta-Lactam Ring Reco
Mike Reed | USA | 12/02/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Almost as astounding as their 'Men From Dystopia' effort (see my review). Tracks that definitely make this title a must-have are the space rocking opener "Fluxion", "Ra", the awesome progressive-like title cut "Black Om Rising" and the elaborite "Daktari". Comes with a bonus DVD that features tunes from the CD performed live - the DVD runs 35 minutes and it features the band performing in a hole-in-the-wall club to an intimate crowd. The gig is pretty good - especially the last two songs "Black Om Rising" and the incredible "Daktari". That, along with an eight-page booklet are sure to have most (if not all) true Seven That Spells fans drooling for more. Old school krautrock patrons will likely enjoy this import CD as well."
