CD Reviews

Kashmir is here!!!
Tofikk | Katowice, Poland | 12/06/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album was committed by Indian musicians in collaboration with Florian Fricke and "illegally" released in Italy without Vuh`s manager`s consent. However, it manifests everything which Vuh music used to stand for for years; religious singing, exotic soundings, low "input" but high "output". They always made so much out of almost nothing. Yoga consists of two exquisite pieces - Yoga 1 and Yoga 2. Both give you long minutes of utterly peaceful improvisations with the whole range of hindu instruments such as sitars (guitars), tablas (drums) and tambouras (drones). It would not be so exciting if there were not be female vocals. Exactly, there are two. But the most elevating of all is a ten minutes beat on tablas, hectic and mystic, accompanied by distant sounds of sitars. If you are not keen on hindu music you`d better stay away...
But if you are a fan of all that jazz you will surely say yes to another excess :-)
This is the most demanding world music i have ever had pleasure to listened to, so, do not waste your time and try to get it!!!I would like to thank my dearest alter ego Tommyknocker for a big help. His reviews on Popol Vuh written in Polish are extremely useful. Thanx :-)"
