CD Reviews

The music says it all

"I saw these guys live at the Crocodile Cafe with Pedro the Lion. I went to see Pedro and did not know either of the opening bands. By the time that Seldom was done with their first song I couldn't wait for the next. This CD is exactly like their live sound (which is very rare this day in age). I am proud to say that I love this CD and listen to it constantly. The only reason that I don't think that it deserves a fifth star is for one reason. Although the music is very good it is not something that makes me feel as though I could die where I stand and everything would be OK."
Incredible Growth, Incredible Band

"I saw Seldom for the first time a couple years ago the first time they toured with Pedro the Lion, and was so impressed with them that I picked up their first EP, "Places I Haven't Seen". The concert introduced my fascination, but the album was what really sold it. Those 5 short songs brought me such a good emotional buzz and just increased my desire for more. The second time they came around, I was almost as excited about seeing Seldom as Pedro (one of my favorite artists), and this time they actually outshone the headliner. Just as "Places..." served as an introduction for Seldom, "Romance" was the revolution. Their musical growth and development in a couple of years was astounding. The lyrics more painfully poignant, the melodies were more unforgettable, and the sound was so full and developed. Every song on this album is special, but it especially shines at the beginning and end, with tracks 1-3 grabbing you right away with great keyboard infused indy pop and "Follow my Heart" finishing out the album on a decidedly emo lyrical turn. I fully recommend and endorse this album to fans of almost any type of music. I think that with an open enough ear anyone could love this album."
This is a great CD!

"I saw Seldom open up for Pedro the Lion at Lupos in Providence, and I was blown away by their live performance. Rarely have I been this impressed with an unknown opening act. I bought the CD, and I was pleasantly suprised to hear that it was just as good as their live performance. The lyrics are captivating and the keyboards and piano provide a perfect accompaniment. Seldom really has an interesting, unique sound. I highly recommend this CD."
