Any musician who?s ever come of age in the company of bands can tell you, it?s almost a miracle of serendipity when five individuals--with five different histories and five unique personalities, attitudes, ambitions and visions--manage to find a common groove and work together successfully. And if those five people can actually distill some of their combined experience into some good original music that?s not only personally satisfying, but other people enjoy listening to it too, WOW?that?s amazing. But the REAL alchemy is when that collaboration produces something much larger than the sum of its parts. When the music takes the band to places the individual members have never been before and could never get to alone. And more important?when the music is exceptional enough to create brand new favorite places in the ear of the listener! That?s what Second Left has extracted from the chaotic process of music-making to produce their debut album, Fruitful Abyss. A variety of musical influences shake hands and come out smiling in Second Left?s unique sound. Just when you think you?ve got them tagged in your mind, you hear something new and surprising that changes your ideas about where the beat is coming from, and where it?s headed. Along the way, you hear insinuations of many musical genres, from old-time rock & roll to gospel, jazz, blues, soul, country, funk and beyond.
