Mick Collins's meanest creation
04/15/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Scews is by far Mick Collins's rawest, meanest creation. Unlike the Gories, the Screws is not hampered by poor drumming and no bass. This is one of Mick Collins's strongest efforts and is a must for any fan of his music. If you like your music raw and mean, this is for you. As a bonus, this disc has a hilarious faux Ike Turner intro and outro. The disc starts with a woman calling Ike Turner. She says, "Ike, pick up the phone . . . if you can get off that woman. Ike, get off that woman and pick up the phone". That is followed by the furious "Into the Ground". A fantastic effort by America's greatest musician."
From the ashes of the Gories and Red Aunts comes...
06/19/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Mick Collins (ex Gories & Blacktop - current Dirtbombs) and Terri Wahl (ex Red Aunts) cook up a mean hybrid of punk/Rn'B/blues on this debut album. The bass playing of Dan Brown (Royal Trux) adds a fat bottom to this music which is often done bass-less. Killer Redd Kross and Mad covers as well as an unexpected Frank Zappa cover make this record a must."
