CD Reviews

Dub Masterpiece

"Check it:

This isn't pitchfork so i'm just going to talk about this album, forgive me if i can't find some elegant metaphor to structure this review around. First of all, the basslines on this album are THE BEST BASSLINES of all time, I have to get that out of the way, and if you're ever going uptown to score something at like 3 o'clock in the morning on a thursday and you put this CD in you will know what i'm talking about, because that strange, unfamiliar sensation is you FEELING LIKE A GANGSTER. I honestly think that this is the "hardest" music in existence.

that said, it's also incredibly mellow and groovy. i don't mean groovy as in "good" though "rids the world" is good. i mean you can groove to this CD, you could probably make love to it as well, but I would recommend Rev. Al Green for that over "Rids the World" unless you and your baby are on drugs.

The most important aspect of this 1981 Masterpiece, to me, is that this is a good, solid dub record that is, as far as i can tell, about destroying monsters, which is awesome. there need to be more songs with titles like "blood of the ghost of frankenstien and dracula" or whatever, it doesn't matter, because you can listen to this and do a drive-by, or you can just burn one by yourself, or you can go and put a stake in the foul heart of a child of the night, it doesn't matter because you're still going to feel pretty cool."

"For something that started off as me listening to it from a game this album is beyond excellent. Many portions of it have been used in the wildly popular Grand Theft Auto III or GTA 3 for short. This album is so good that I would just turn on my Playstation 2 to listen to it and I wouldn't even be trying to play the game. The bottom line is this: even though this album is hard to find, it has soon-to-be legendary tracks and the melodies and words are enough to make you wanna move your body without even realizing why you're doing it. If you like dub, the real type of the music, then you'll LOVE this album, if you don't then click the back buttom and go buy the fake reggae that you hear on cruise ships to satisfy your listening pleasures."
Amazing

"Yes, I became a fan of Scientist thru Grand theft auto 3. I also used to turn the game on and just listen to the music. Since then (2001) I have purchased many more dub albums and this is still one of my favorites (if not THE favorite). Every song on the album is a masterpiece, every sound fits perfectly, nothing feels out of place or random. What can I say? Scientist is a genius. If you're not a fan of dub this cd will make you one, or maybe you won't understand it at all. Either way, this cd deserves to be in your cd collection. Dub lovers especially must have this album."
