CD Reviews

Drums and Jazz!

"In 1958 I bought Cozy Cole's singles of Topsy, Part 2 (& 1) and Turvy, Part 2 (& 1). I've had those two singles for almost 50 years. I saw this CD on Amazon.com and had to have it. There are some gems here that I've never heard by Cozy before, Sandy Nelson's "Let There Be Drums," for one. If you like jazz and drums then this is for you."

"I originally purchsed the cd for the hit song, "Topsy, Part II". But I enjoyed all the songs on the cd."
I found it!

"Back in 1959 I had Cozy Cole's BAD on a 45 rmp record then stupidly recorded it on a 4 track reel to reel tape and gave my 45's away. BAD was a favorite of our group, and we even painted the word BAD 1, Bad 2, Bad 3, etc. on the rear fenders of our cars, but none of us could recall who recorded the song. Doing Internet searches for BAD only turned up a song of Michale Jackson's by that name and that was definitely not the BAD we wanted. I have a 3rd or 4th generation copy of BAD on a cassette tape and have been hunting for either an original or just the name of the artist for many many years. I thought it sounded similar to Topsy that I heard on an Oldies CD which was recorded by Cozy Cole and I decided to check and see what else he recorded. WaLla, there was BAD on the album. I'm so excited! Best cruising song ever made."
