CD Reviews

They've grown and improved
Carla Landa | Salvador, Bahia,Brazil | 12/23/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"On this album, forget about those two little cute kids playing their father's role singing brazilian reagional music. They've grown and improved their singing and style and on this concert, you can listen the soft and young Sandy's voice in pop tunes and also trying something erudit from Villa Lobos. And Junior, singing Santana's "Smooth" and playing perfectly the percussion , show's why they both reached top Brazilian charts and became a Hit all over brazil among all ages. The only thing missing was Enrique Inglesias, singing the with Sandy on the song "You're my #1". But junior did his job well!!"

"The new CD from the Brazilian teen pair is a big hit, recorded live at Olympia, São Paulo. Including 19 tracks, among which are three new ones. One of the hits on this album is the version of " Smooth ", (Junior interprets an absolute success from the singer and guitarist Carlos Santana), " You're My # 1 " (Junior in place of Enrique Iglesias), " Bachianas Nº 5 ", from Heitor Villa-Lobos, and " Fascinação ", where Sandy demonstrates her beautiful voice interpreting the success that was once immortalized in the voice of Elis Regina. Add to the list of hits on this album " Imortal", " Vâmo Pula " and "Olha o Que o Amor Me Faz"."
Um Disco Fantastico!

"I first heard of Sandy and Junior on an extended stay in Brazil that ended last year. Though my tastes in music are usually quite different from the genres they sing in, I think this CD is great! I never realized how big a fan of Sandy and Junior's I was until I bought it and listened to it. Sandy's voice is amazing, as usual, and Junior does very nicely, too, especially on "Aprender a Amar."The only slight dissatisfaction I felt as I listened were some of the inevitable comparisons I made with their songs and songs from original artists. Notably, Junior's version of "Smooth" is good, but pales greatly when compared to Carlos Santana's--I found Junior's accent to be very distracting. However, I also found that I liked their "Imortal" even better than Celine Dion's. I'd emphasize that even when their performances are overshadowed by those of the song's original artists, they are still very well done and, for the most part, satisfying. My favorite tracks include "Olha O Que O Amor Me Faz," "Aprender a Amar," "Imortal," "As Quatro Estacoes," e "A Lenda." This CD is a great buy!"
