"After initally writting Sammie off, he surpised with his sophmore CD. Sammie has matured as an artist and unlike other young R&B singers, Sammie is more concerned with soulful singing than being crunk in the club. With the involvement of Austin, Jazze Pha, Dre & Vidal, and Bryan-Michael Cox and very few cameo apperances this is one of the better R&B CD'S from a singer under 21. The album's first four tracks Feelin It,I Can't, You Should Be My Girl and What About Your Friend all me nodding my head. As far for the ballads Sammie really delivers on Misson Impossible and Slow, However Sammie is the strongest vocally on Another Last Chance which is very heartfelt with it's portrait of young love gone wrong. I honestly hope that the music buying public gives him a chance as he is a talnted singer and given the right production there's no telling how far he'll go."

"Many people probably don't even remember Sammie the first time he came out. He was a 12 years old kid who lucked up and got himself a deal with Rowdy Records. Fast forward to 2006 and it becomes clear that music is certainly in his blood. And with a new outlook on life (as well as being grown enough to tackle adult topics), Sammie is ready to prove to the world that he is the real deal. With help from Rowdy Records (didn't know they were even still in existence) and various producers, the self-titled release is now available for the world. And listening to this album will definitely surprise you....in a good way.
His debut single "You Should Be My Girl" featuring Sean Paul of the Youngbloodz (and produced by Jazze Pha) is an easy-going ditty that simply appeals to the younger crowd, a smart move in my opinion. "Feelin It" is another Jazze Pha-produced song that sounds like a Ciara track, yet another good decision since she's one of the hottest female singers out right now. But this isn't to say that the production is what carries these songs. Sammie holds his own on both of those songs as well as the standout tracks like "Choose Me," "Another Last Chance," "Mission Impossible," and "Heavenly." The rest of the album is filled with decent material, but it becomes apparent that the songwriting on tracks like "What About Your Friend" and "Let It Ride" could have been tweaked a little bit. And a few songs like "Slow" and "Back 2 Love" sound like he's straining a little too much to hit certain notes.
I remember seeing Sammie on Soul Train months ago. He was being introduced and I immediately started laughing because I remember him from years ago. But after listening to him perform both songs on the show, he had actually convinced me that he actually had talent. And Sammie is evidence of that very same notion. With a little more work in the songwriting area and him staying within his singing range, Sammie could still hang with other younger artists like Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, and Trey Songs.

"To say it's been a minute would be an understatement. More like its been about six years since young singer Sammie released a full length CD. His 2000 CD, From the Bottom to the Top, spawned the hit single "I Like It." Sammie
After a long hiatus, the talented vocalist is back with a brand new album simply titled Sammie. The first single "You Should Be My Girl," featuring Sean Paul of Youngbloodz has put the singer back on the radio and on BET's 106 and Park.
I was pleasantly surprised by Sammie's sophomore effort. Good beats, good vocals, it's a great album. Sammie didn't pack the album with guest artists and he didn't have too.
Sammie may have taken a break, but he has come back to prove that he can hang with todays new school R&B singers, he's in the same class with Trey Songz, Bobby Valentino, and Chris Brown.
Stand out tracks on the album include "Feelin' It," "What About Your Friend," "You Should Be My Girl," and "Heavenly."
Sammie's latest disc was executive produced by Dallas Austin and was released on his Rowdy Records label.

Great album, but here's why it was overlooked...

"Now, I was a fan of Sammie back when he was twelve and released "I Like It" and "Crazy Things I Do" (in fact, the latter was one of my favorite songs back in 2000). After that, he didn't really do anything other than some collaborative song on the Hardball soundtrack (does anyone even remember that movie?). And there are two problems with taking a six-year break between albums. One is that your popularity will most likely have waned, and the other thing is that if you were a kid when you first came out and you're an adult now, people probably won't be able to help but still see you as a kid.
Be that as it may, Sammie's self-titled album is filled with great stuff. Although "You Should Be My Girl" is fine, there are better songs than that, like "Come With Me", "Slow" and "Let It Ride". "I Can't" also does a good job of sampling Chicago's "Hard Habit to Break".
There are also a few songs on here with very interesting lyrics, like "Another Last Chance" and especially "Mission Impossible". "My Own Way" also falls into that category, as it details his mother's uneasiness for him to continue pursuing music. The necessary end-of-album spiritual song, "All You've Done", also impresses, as does "Heavenly" (although on the latter, Sammie is going a little overboard with his falsetto before the final chorus).
I can't say the obligatory Jazze Phizzle productizzle "Feelin' It" is aptly titled simply because you can't turn on urban radio nowadays without hearing that exact same beat in at least five other songs. And singing "What About Your Friend" to a woman is an easy way to get slapped. But it's too bad that Sammie's album didn't get any kind of promotion because it's definitely worth picking up.

"Wow, it has been so long since he came out with a song, I thought he was just going to be one of those one hit wonders. I really love that song "you should be my girl", its a head banger... His cd is pretty good, I haven't finished listening to all of it, but the tracks so far are pretty entertaining...It just feels weird for him to be so grown up and singing about "grown people" stuff. How old is he??? The songs don't put me in the "mood", but he has some real upbeat songs on there. I guess the lovey/ sexual songs don't put me in the mood because he's so young and I just be sitting hear listening to his songs like "sammie what you know about "that"? lol!!! The only thing that I think is a bit corny is how singers make these songs singing about certain sexual/ innapropriate things, but then at the end of their cd, they put a track on there saying "thank you God, I love you"...I just feel like if you're going to acknowlege God it should be on the first track of your cd and you should keep the rest of the tracks following that religious aspect...But anyway.. Go head SAMMIE.. I'm glad you back! Do your thing.."
