CD Reviews

Sacred Steel = Gods
05/06/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD is very epic and fun to listen to. I can't stop listening to STORMHAMMER, By the Wrath of The Unborn and Lust for Blood. Sacred Steel, like Manowar proves that true metal will never die. Hail the Wargods of Metal!"
Very fun album

"i wouldnt call this cd very memorable and i dont think that the band is as talented as other metal bands. but why give i 4 stars because i like it a lot. It has a lot of replayability, and the songs are fun, fast, catchy and raw. I can put this cd in at any time and be happy. If i want to listen to a song and not have to wait 6-7 minutes for it this albums perfect, its all there in 3-4 minutes.Sacred Steel has sort of the Manowar, death to false metal persona, but they dont sound the same, there not as epic sounding. There just a fun quick listen. When i first bought this cd i got it along with there first, Reborn in Steel on ebay for about $5 each, They were on different auctions and i ended up getting reborn in steel first. let me tell you, it sucked, i think ive listened to it 3 times. the 3rd time was just to give it another chance because i like bloodlust so much. I think the main problem was the guys vocals, they were beyond awful, he sounded like a squeeling pig. but 2 albums later his vocals seem to improve a crap load, i dont know what he did but it was good.So dont buy Reborn in Steel, its terrible. But Listen to a few clips from Bloodlust and if you like or dont mind the vocals then buy this cd, you wont be disappointed"
Metal is war...

"...at least according to Sacred Steel. But I'd like to think that war would sound a little more grim and hopeless than this album ever does.

If you like power metal, you might like this. But I really hope you don't. A friend left a copy of this CD in my basement years ago, and I recently rediscovered it and gave it a couple of listens out of curiosity. Ouch.

The musicians are proficient at their instruments, but that's about all that can be said in praise of this band. The album's most noticeable characteristic is the singer's annoying, pseudo-operatic vocal style. Dude often sounds like he's doing a bad Geddy Lee impression, especially on the interminable "Blood on my Steel," which is admittedly one of the more memorable songs on this album (but only because it's so annoying and ridiculous that it stands out from the pack.)

If you like soaring vocals set to fast but rather boring metal riffs, or if you just have a soft spot for albums where all the songs are about swords, than this might do it for you. Otherwise, give this one a wide berth."
