Synopsis

Product Description
Five O'Clock News is a collection of songs driven by Ryan's incomparable and heartfelt voice. This is music that pushes and pulls down the middle of funk and jazz, back up through the unwinding strands of post-folk and rock, and lands, sometimes sweetly and softly and sometimes with a resounding smash, right in the center of your chest. Ryan has the good sense to surround himself with some of the heaviest cats in NYC. Five O'Clock News features sizzlas like Christopher Hoffman on cello, Ben Stivers on organ and keys, Matt Kilmer on percussion and Steve Altenberg on drums, as well as guest appearances from Kevin Louis on trumpet and Craig Dreyer (tenor sax), who recorded and mixed the album at his Mighty Toad Studios in Pawling, NY. Legendary producer and engineer Rob Fraboni (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton) joined the project as mastering engineer to create a disc with a singular character all classic albums inevitably possess.

CD Reviews

Great stuff

"Saw him play recently in NYC. Amazing on stage and this is a great record. Songs that seem like real classics already. Ryan Scott sings like he's been doing it all his life."
Good to see this great record on Amazon

"I don't know how they got it, but it's wonderful to see that Ryan's record is for sale here. I've been going to see Ryan play his acoustic sets for a long time, and he's always been one of those musicians you hold close as your own, while always knowing they're so good that one day others will find out and he will get so big you'll have to share him with others. Ryan Scott is like that for me.

An incredible guitar player with a voice like honey. Beautiful songs about love and life, but never succumbing to pat cliches. If I didn't already own the record, I would buy it here."
