Synopsis

Album Description
Produced in conjunction with the 2002-2003 "Czars-Four Hundred Years of Imperial Grandeur" Exhibition, Russia's Greatest Composers includes music from the middle to late 19th century, a period when Russian composers broke away from European tradition and found their own distinct voice. Inside Sounds has been producing CDs for WONDERS: The Memphis International Cultural Series since the 1993 release "Music of the Napoleonic Era" for the "Napoleon" exhibition. Carefully remastered for this project, the orchestral pieces included here are dynamic, yet contain very little audio distractions sometimes associated with classical recordings. Opening with Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee," this CD immediately grabs the listener's attention and continues to do so as various European orchestras interpret some of the most beautiful and passionate music ever written. In addition to the great symphonic works on this compilation are two short piano pieces selected fro! m a series of recordings from Ballet Intensive from Moscow.
