First-rate Music in the Morgan Manner!

"Another gem from Hindsight, this features 22 transcription recordings by Russ Morgan. My guess is these are Lang-Worth or Standard Transcriptions, or a combination of the two. These recordings were made specifically for radio broadcast, and are not Decca or Brunswick label records.
The tracks include some variations on Russ' signature hits, obscure Tin Pan Alley tunes, and Hit Parade favorites. Recording dates are not included, but the songs themselves were popular between 1937-1941.
The overall quality is EXCELLENT! Even if an individual song is less than memorable, the sound quality is first-rate, often surpassing what was available with typical 78 rpm equipment. A case in point: during the trumpet solo in COULD BE, you can hear the excellent guitar backup.
The collection provides a good introduction to the somewhat underrated Russ Morgan Orchestra (one of my personal favorites, so I must admit to some prejudice). Morgan was a skilled arranger, and led a dance band with an outstanding string section."
