One the second part of this CD the charming voice of Peggy Connelly is featured, and as usual, Russ Garcia conducts the band with his deft touch and musical finesse, something quickly evident to the aware listener. Enjoy them, because these recordings are fully representative of Russ Garcia's versatile talent as a composer and arranger, in both the instrumental and vocal fields. 22 total tracks originally recorded in 1955-56. CD Reviews

Nice Garcia
Stephen A. Degray | Bluefield, Va. USA | 08/05/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"As a young teen, I played on my Colaro changer with GE cartridge, Russ Garcia's "Sounds in the Night", vocal jazz. Later I have Garcia with Maynard Ferguson, " I'll Never Forget What's Her Name", a demonstration record for Vinyl still. I've kept my eye out for Garcia since 1957, and am happy to hear the "Wigfield Band" release, and others on jazzcity. I'd love to see "Sounds in the Night" also. It was on AAMCO Records, in excellent sound, as are the new releases. I love these old recordings, like those of Lennie Niehus, with better sound from the 50's than present day "audiophile" recordings."
