Runa Laila, well known as a pop singer, is also an accomplished ghazal singer. Classically trained, she has dabbled in various genres of music. She is especially known for her song "Dama Dam Mast Qalandar," which has been covered by numerous artists. Her first programs were organized by the government of India in 1974. She sang ghazals, geet-s, and folk songs, and was very well received.
